Originally from Valencia in Spain, Sharay has an eclectic dance background in a variety of world dance styles. Her particular love, apart from oriental dance, is Cuban Salsa, but she has also trained in Bachata, Cuban folkloric, Bollywood, Arabic folkloric and modern western dance styles. She trained in oriental dance with Narjess Montaser, studying Arab music, sceneography and stagework, as well as dance technique and performance.
In Spain Sharay was a member of professional dance companies La Flor del Desierto (Arabian dance) and Los Guaracheros (Cuban dance). She taught choreography and theatrical dance for the Escenae Academy, as well as creating and teaching the choreography for the theatre production La Venganza de Don Mendo. She also won several awards with the oriental dance company Brisa de Oriente.
Since moving to the UK Sharay has become a firm favourite on the London dance scene, performing salsa, Brazilian dance and bellydance in dance showcases, corporate events and top London venues. She has about to work on a promotional video for the new African dance fitness concept Zaikoh and hopes to start classes in it soon, alongside teaching bellydance and undertaking voluntary dance therapy work.
